Accuride Makes Investment in Erie Facility
Today, Accuride Erie L.P. confirmed the start of installation of new press equipment at the Company’s aluminum wheel facility on 12th Street. The investment, totaling approximately $25 million, includes two new, state-of-the-art hydraulic presses plus other tactical improvements to facilities and equipment.
Press installation is currently underway with completion scheduled for the Second Quarter 2008.

“This investment represents both a long-term commitment to our valued aluminum wheel customers and a significant milestone in the implementation of our strategic plan,” said Rick Klein, Vice President and General Manager of Accuride Aluminum Wheels. “We extend our sincere appreciation to Mayor Joe Sinnott, his Economic Development Lead Team, and the entire GEIDC organization for their focused support during the development, evaluation, and implementation of this project.”
GEIDC has worked with Accuride in various capacities for the past three years to try to make it easier for the company to make the choice to expand in Erie. We are pleased that they were able to make this commitment, and we will continue to work with them to keep them here and expanding,” said Monica T. Brower, CEcD, President & CEO of the Economic Development Corporation of Erie County.
“When we found out that Accuride was poised to make a $25 million investment in one of their plants, we worked very hard with the Economic Development Lead Team to show Accuride that Erie was the best place for this investment. We are very excited that Accuride agreed and this investment is being made in Erie. In doing so, Accuride has made a commitment to their 190 employees at the Erie plant and also an ongoing commitment to our city. It it important to our economy that companies like Accuride continue to stay here and grow here for future generations,” said Mayor Joe Sinnott.
